What is a misdemeanor?

A misdemeanor is classified as any offense punishable by up to one year in jail or a fine of up to $1000. The most commonly charged misdemeanors are Assault, Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Vandalism, DUI, Refusing to Submit to a Chemical Test 2nd Offense, Possession of Marijuana, Restraining Order Violations, Trespassing and Driving on a Suspended License.
