Why should I fight the ticket?

Rhode Island has a 5-year look back period. This means that any subsequent conviction, if it’s within five years, will show a prior conviction for DUI. This will result in a higher penalty, more fines, and possibly a longer period of a suspended license. In addition, the chances are good that the DUI laws will change as legislators are always changing them to make the penalties more severe.
